Are you searching for inspiration or motivation to finally master curves? Are you looking for a BOM that keeps you engaged with unique designs and skill-building techniques? The Learning Curves Block of the Month is full of one-of-a-kind blocks and curve templates to keep your sew-jo at an all time high!

January 2024- December 2024

  • I want to find quilt patterns with new & novel designs.

  • I need variety and community to keep me engaged.

  • I want to sew curves, but I don’t want to commit to a whole quilt top of the same pattern.

  • I want to make quilts that don’t look like anything else out there.

  • I’m looking for a low pressure way to build my quilting skills.

I’ll lead you through twelve, one-of-a-kind quilt block patterns designed specifically to keep you motivated throughout the year. Every month, you’ll create a new block that kick starts your sew-jo, introduces you to new techniques, and builds your confidence as a modern quilter.

The Learning Curves BOM is a 12 month bonanza for quilters who want to make something they’ve never seen before. Whether you’re a confident beginner or a seasoned sewist, there’s a block with your name - & skill level - on it! Inspired by post-modern design, each block highlights a different curve template or traditional piecing technique. Nine of the blocks will teach you fantastic curves, and range from confident beginner to advanced skill levels. Three blocks don’t use curves. These blocks are a bit like palate cleansers or deep breaths - moments to rest and reset our sew-jo throughout the year.

The best way to learn how to sew curves is to find a project that motivates you and a community that supports you. I’ll be with you every step of the way - from the first cut to the final press.

Each month, you’ll get access to:

  1. a new Learning Curves block pattern with cutting diagrams.

  2. a bonus sheet with inspiration for a full quilt top, tips and tricks for sewing the block, or extra templates to make use of scraps.

  3. a yardage cutting guide that shows how to cut all fabrics from yardage instead of scraps

  4. a new blog post that dives deep into the pattern, with detailed photos of experiments with sewing curves.

    5. insight and advice from other quilters who have made the quilt block.

  • An intermediate pattern that combines quarter circles curves and the classic bear paw quilt.

  • An intermediate quilt block that combines orange peel curves and the classic double wedding ring design.

  • A confident beginner block that combines generous quarter circle curves and a modern checkerboard pattern.

  • A confident beginner quilt block that transforms the classic sawtooth star with half rectangle triangles.

  • An advanced quilt block that takes inspiration from, you guessed it, a favorite snack food!

  • A confident beginner block that transforms the classic log cabin block with some strip piecing and quarter circle curves.

  • An intermediate quilt block that uses quarter circles and an inset circle to bring a lily pad to life. It’s one of the few blocks that uses HSTs!

  • No BOM is complete without a sawtooth star block! This confident beginner block pattern puts a fun spin on the 8-at-a-time HST method.

  • An advanced quilt block, this block is perhaps the most challenging of the bunch. Made with half circles, and a healthy dose of patience, the Comma block is a showstopper!

  • An intermediate quilt block that uses some creative templates and half circles. I promise there is no FPP and that you’ve never made a block quite like the Bobbin block.

  • A confident beginner quilt block, this block is designed to tesselate seamlessly when you make multiple blocks.

  • An advanced quilt block that will push your piecing accuracy. The bonus sheet includes instructions to make a simplified block.
